What we’ve achieved so far
We have already come a long way. As an academic spin-off, Pixel Photonics was founded 2020 to commercialize waveguide-integrated SNSPDs. Today we are delivering our detector systems to various customers, have been awarded with an innovation prize and will soon launch Series A funding.
To keep track of our achievements:
2020
- Foundation as an academic spin-off from the groups of Prof. Dr. Wolfram Pernice and Prof. Dr. Carsten Schuck
- Founded by Nicolai Walter, Wladick Hartmann, Fabian Beutel, Martin Wolff, Christoph Seidenstücker, Wolfram Pernice and Carsten Schuck
- Part of EXIST research transfer funding
2021
- Conversion to the German corporate form GmbH
- Funding of 2.6 million euros from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research for a project on the use of quantum physics to improve future data security together with the Department of Physics at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster
2022
- Delivery of the first operational detector system
- Successful seed round with 1.45 million euros (German VC High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), the French quantum-focused VC fund Quantonation and photonics industry veteran Dr. Hendrik Sabert)
- Recognition with the Innovation Prize of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in the category "Young Talent“ for Co-founder and CTO Dr. Wladick Hartmann
